This works!
I am currently ploughing through day 8 of this diet and I am heartily impressed!

After 3 days I could slip into my jeans that simply wouldn't go over my hips anymore. I am visibly leaner although I haven't weighed myself - I go by my clothes and in recent months I've had to buy bigger clothes!

As a personal trainer, I was always able to keep my weight in check just by dropping the "junk" - cookies, ice-cream, candy, etc. However, when I turned 30, this just didn't work anymore and I was so discouraged. I fell behind with my workouts (which meant even more bodyfat issues) and my self esteem took a battering.

A month ago I decided that I'd had enough so I started eating really clean - no junk. In 3 weeks I lost exactly nothing. NOTHING. Just before I threw in the towel and decided to be fat forever, I picked up The South Beach Diet and I'm so glad I did. It pulls from a lot of theories and studies that I already understand so it all makes perfect sense to me. Here I am 8 days later feeling like I'm finally getting somewhere.

It doesn't take long to make an omelette in the morning - I don't really understand the others complaining about that. I haven't tried the recipes for dinner - I just make whatever I think my family will like with the list of foods I can have. I made my flank steak the other night and didn't have to change my recipe at all - it was great to know I could have as much as I wanted!

If you haven't tried South Beach yet, give it a go. Otherwise you may find the only way is up - on the scale.

Weight Loss
I have been following the South Beach Diet for 2.5 weeks and only lost 3 pounds.

My stomach seems smaller and my clothes do fit a little better, but I am also exercising 3-4 times as week.

I love the food and the cooking is fun! I love experimenting with all the new ingredients and recipes.

I guess I was just hoping for more weight loss by now...

Easier than expected
I admit I was worried about all the foods listed as good and the preparation time to clean and cook them. I have 4 kids of my own and have daycare children in my home during the day. This diet fits into my life just fine.

It took a little adjusting to realize that you take the time to prep food when you buy it and then it is ready to go when you are ready to snack on or cook the food.

My husband can not believe what a wonderful cook I have turned into. I just use a little imagination and the suggested spices, etc.

I have lost 5lbs in the first week and my husband has lost 7lbs. We love the food and this easy lifestyle change.

Thank you for a common sense "diet" that anyone can follow if they want to.

South Beach Diet
I will agree with others that if you are following the hype of the diet you are bound to get distracted by all of the endless preparing that you are doing.

for me, l tried it online and found that l was wearing myself out! the next time l decided to slow down and just use the foods to enjoy/avoid list and just roll with it.

l now follow the principles of the plan and am doing fine. FYI l am working class, not rich nor do l even make "good money".

easy does it, l hate cooking but l hate being fat and depressed even more.

Love the South Beach Program
I have been eating the South Beach way for 9 months and have lost 30-35 pounds overall and am very near my final goals. (I am 5'11" and male and now weigh under 190 lbs.)

I find it a fairly flexible eating program and a very healthy eating program that doesn't really focus so much on "low-carbs" as eating a balanced diet that includes whole grains, legumes, lean protein sources, vegetables and fruits.

What it avoids is most added sugars and refined grains and pre-packaged foods and foods that are high on the glycemic index.

What it stresses are fresh foods that are well prepared and healthy for you and that don't spike your blood sugar after consuming them.

I don't consider it a "fad" diet unless you want to treat it as one. Heck, I don't consider it a "diet" at all!

At this point, I just don't see myself eating any other way, nor do I feel like I am missing out on anything other than all those extra pounds I was carrying around for so many years.

Worked for my sister and now me
My sister has been on South Beach for about 7 months now and has lost almost 50lbs.

I decided to try it after the new year and after 8 days, I've already lost 13lbs! It really works!

The cravings got me a little in the beginning but I held my ground. I found that drinking a full glass of water before and after my meals helps.

I overdo it on the peanut butter sometimes when I crave something sweet, or I'll eat a low carb bar, but I'm still making progress.

It really works
My husband and I started the SBD about 8 days ago and so far, we've both lost about 8 lbs. each!

I never really had to worry about my weight, but after we got married we really started to put on the weight. I tried just about every diet you could think of, and SBD is the one that has worked for me.

It has been pretty easy so far. The first 3-4 days I really craved sweets as I have a pretty big sweet tooth, but now I have no more cravings!

Give it a try! If it worked for me, it can for you!

South Beach Diet
I have to say that my husband and I just started the South Beach Diet 3 days ago and so far so good.

I'm 31 yrs old and diabetic so day 1 was horrible for me, I got a pretty bad migraine but it seems that almost magically, my carb cravings have disappeared!

When I woke up this morning (day 3) I had more energy than I've had in 2 years, and with a 22 month old son, I need all the energy I can get!

I usually take 3 pills a day to keep my blood sugars under control but I have not taken my pills at all since I stared this diet and my sugars have been no higher than 120 after a meal and about 90-110 fasting (first thing in the morning).

Both my husband and I are excited to step on the scale after the 14 days are up and when have I ever been able to say that I actually wanted to get on the dreaded scale?! Probably since high school..

We're doing this together and hopefully setting a good example of a healthy lifestyle for our son.

I can only say that if you feel like you've tried a dozen diets and can't seem to stick with anything more than a couple of days (like myself) because of all the restrictions and calorie counting, please try this - I promise that even if you feel a little head-achey, after the first day that feeling will disappear and you will begin to feel as great as I do..

Dr. Agatson has virtually given me a new lease on life to enjoy with my family for many more years to come..
